What Do We Look For In A Manuscript?
Our Prairie authors include many first-time authors who rely on our expertise and professional services such as writing, editing, layout, marketing, and distribution to get their books published and into the marketplace in a timely manner. Marketing and distribution services include providing access to sales channels on the Prairies, across Canada and internationally: in bookstores and other select retail outlets; through presentations at schools, libraries, trade shows and other venues; and at workshops on writing, editing, and publishing techniques.
We work in three publishing models: as a hybrid publisher in partnership with authors where authors pay most of the costs of publishing and receive a royalty of 25% to 100% of receipts; in a traditional book-publishing model in which DriverWorks Ink pays the costs and authors receive a royalty of up to 10% of the regular retail price of the book; and as a self-publisher of books written by Deana J. Driver.
DriverWorks Ink prides itself in: careful editing, layout and proofreading; choosing meaningful photographs to accompany non-fiction stories; working with authors and talented Saskatchewan artists to ensure exceptional artwork is created for the best quality books that will be well-received in the marketplace. All DriverWorks Ink books are published in Saskatchewan and are scheduled into our production program to ensure all aspects of the process have the attention required for a quality product. A panel of qualified proofreaders – including English teachers and librarians – and talented contract artists and printers assist DriverWorks Ink in the publishing process.

Testimonials From Authors:
“Deana Driver made my dream come true – publishing a book about my beloved St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Murphy, who is the first such dog to visit an emergency department in Canada. I asked Deana if she would consider publishing the book since she had published a book celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Saskatchewan St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Program, with some of our favourite stories of visiting with our dogs. It was a very wise decision on my part. Deana was so encouraging and expertly walked me through the whole process. I was especially excited about her finding such a talented illustrator whose paintings truly reflected the story. Deana’s attention to detail was amazing. She also showed flexibility and creativity when dealing with deadlines other than her own. I highly recommend her.” – Jane Smith, author of Murphy Mondays
“It is a wonderful experience working with Deana. She is professional in every way and cares strongly about the people she works with and the books she helps to produce. Quality and accuracy are number one for Deana and she works hard to accomplish these. I trust Deana’s judgment completely and will definitely call upon her skills with my next books.” – Mary Harelkin Bishop, award-winning author of children’s books Tunnels of Time: Moose Jaw Time Travel Adventure #1, Tunnels of Terror: Moose Jaw Time Travel Adventure #2; Tunnels of Treachery: Moose Jaw Time Travel Adventure #3; Skye Bird and the Eagle Feather; Mistasinîy: Buffalo Rubbing Stone; Seeds of Hope: A Prairie Story; Moving Forward: The Journey of Paralympian Colette Bourgonje; and Gina’s Wheels
“I met Deana Driver at the famous Homespun craft sale in Carlyle, Sk. She was there to promote her newest book, Flight Vol. 2. I had been thinking of writing a family history book for quite a few years, and seeing her work gave me that final push. She agreed to edit my book for me and made the dream I had of publishing a book come true. Deana is an honest and dedicated person who works hard until the job is complete, and I couldn’t have asked for a better person to help me in creating my family keepsake.” – Marla Schlenker, author of The Freitag Family of Alameda (created for family use)
“Working with DriverWorks Ink was a trouble-free process. Everything happened in a timely manner. I love my book.” – Lorelei Rogers, author of Shaking The Family Tree (created for family use)
“In 50 years in the newspaper business, I’ve had the pleasure of working for and with many outstanding editors – none more caring, competent, and thoroughly professional than Deana Driver. She is, simply put, the best. I highly recommend Deana to anyone wanting to publish a book.” – Clay Stacey, author of non-fiction autobiography The Inquiring Reporter
“When I first approached Deana at DriverWorks Ink about helping me self-publish my book, without hesitation she offered to meet me, get acquainted, and talk about my project. She and Al quickly gained insight into what I had in mind, which made it easier for us to work together. Both are highly qualified journalists, alive, fun, and energetic. They keep to the schedule they promise.” – Eleanor A. Sinclair, author of Our Lamps Were Heavy
