Deana Driver is an award-winning author, editor, book publisher, and retired journalist. Deana wrote and co-published her first two books in 2001 and 2006. In 2008, she founded DriverWorks Ink after numerous other Saskatchewan writers requested her editing, layout design, and book publishing assistance. Deana has since written four more books and published or co-published more than 90 books in print and/or e-book formats, written by Western Canadian writers including herself. Her passion is sharing true stories that can help readers lead better lives. In addition to nonfiction biographies and anthologies, she publishes spiritual healing, health and wellness books, children’s and juvenile historical fiction, and rural humor. All books sold by DriverWorks Ink are either true stories or based on true stories.
Since 1981, more than 2,300 of Deana’s feature and news articles have been published in more than 25 Canadian magazines and newspapers including The Regina Leader-Post, Medical Post, The Lawyers Weekly, The United Church Observer and The Bottom Line. Her photography skills have been used to accompany her freelance magazine articles and book projects. After more than 30 years as a journalist, Deana retired from that career in 2013 to concentrate on book publishing.
Deana (pronounced dee-na) has written six nonfiction books as the sole author: Crash Harrison: Tales of a Bomber Pilot Who Defied Death; Never Leave Your Wingman: Dionne and Graham Warner’s Story of Hope; The Sailor and the Christmas Trees – A True Story; Just a Bunch of Farmers: The Story of Weyburn Inland Terminal 1976-2001; Never Give Up: Ted Jaleta’s Inspiring Story; and From The West to the World: The Story of Underwood McLellan/UMA Group. She has also contributed pieces to more than a dozen other books, most of which were published by her company, DriverWorks Ink, including Flight: Stories of Canadian Aviation, Volume 1; Flight: Stories of Canadian Aviation, Volume 2; Flight: Stories of Canadian Aviation, Volume 3; Cream Money: Stories of Prairie People; Fun On The Farm: True Tales of Farm Life; Fun On The Farm Too: True Tales of Farm Life; Fun On The Farm 3: True Tales of Farm Life; Prairie Pilot: Lady Luck Was on My Side; Egg Money; and Dear Me: The Widow Letters.
Deana is a member of the Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild and SaskBooks /Saskatchewan Publishers Group. She has spoken about writing, publishing, and DriverWorks Ink books in school classrooms and Prairie libraries, with special interest and community organizations, and other audiences of all ages. She has mentored other authors and upcoming book publishers and has assisted with building the writing and publishing communities on the Prairies. Since 1998, Deana Driver has been listed in Who’s Who of Canadian Women and Canadian Who’s Who. She enjoys singing, gardening, nature walks, photography, travelling, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Lisa Driver is an award-winning author with a degree in Communications and Marketing (with distinction) from the University of Calgary. She assists DriverWorks Ink in marketing and communications as well as in an editorial capacity by assessing, editing, and proofreading manuscripts, book layouts, and marketing materials. Lisa is also the author of four books published by DriverWorks Ink (Opening Up: How to Develop Your Intuition and Work With Your Angels; Leap! How to Overcome Doubt, Fear, And Grief & Choose The Path of Joy; Boundaries and Bucket-Filling: How To Say No To Others and Yes To You, and You Are Enough: Activate Your Angels & Magnetize a Soul-FULL Life). She is also a contributing writer to Fun on the Farm Too: True Tales of Farm Life. Lisa is a busy young mother who is an entrepreneur with her own spiritual healing and freelance writing and communications business in southwestern Saskatchewan.
Mary Harelkin Bishop is an award-winning, bestselling author who assists DriverWorks Ink in editorial areas by vetting, editing, and proofreading manuscripts, book layouts, and marketing materials. Mary is a retired teacher and teacher librarian who has a master’s degree, has worked in core neighbourhood and First Nations schools, and has taught a master class in Canadian Children’s Literature at the University of Saskatchewan. She is the author of the award-winning Tunnels of Moose Jaw Adventures kids’ and teens’ classics, which DriverWorks Ink began updating and republishing in 2020 with Tunnels of Time: Moose Jaw Time Travel Adventure #1 and completed the 4th book in the series, Tunnels of Tyranny, in 2023. Mary’s other books published by DriverWorks Ink are Skye Bird and the Eagle Feather, Mistasiniy: Buffalo Rubbing Stone, Gina’s Wheels, Moving Forward: The Journey of Paralympian Colette Bourgonje, and Seeds of Hope: A Prairie Story. Mary advises DriverWorks Ink on content, style, and culturally appropriate language in our books as well as being a contributing writer to volumes of the Flight: Stories of Canadian Aviation and the Fun on the Farm: True Tales of Farm Life series. She is a mother of two and grandmother of two who enjoys being physically active and working with novice writers.
Dani Driver has a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Regina. She is a teacher who assists in vetting, proofreading, and copy editing DriverWorks Ink manuscripts, book layouts, and marketing materials. She also provides advice on social media and book content specific to educational markets. Dani has advised on cover designs, assisted with fulfilling book orders, and also created illustrations for one of our children’s chapter books (Seeds of Hope: A Prairie Story). She is a young mother and a voracious reader who also enjoys gardening.
